Peterborough’s first railway line, Nene Valley Railway, was completed in 1847 with many extensions and additions to follow and has become one of the most popular and much loved tourist attractions in the region. It is home to what is considered to be the ‘official replica’ of a full-scale working Thomas the Tank Engine, which can be seen regularly, puffing up and down the lines around the City, carrying both passenger and freight services. The railway has also starred in two James Bond films (Octopussy and Goldeneye) and many scenes were shot on and around the tracks.
